To Play the Fool...

To Play the Fool focuses on the new generations connection to the art of clowning. Drawing from the traditional Shakespearian fool and its depressive clown complex our new age jester is one fully aware of the oppressive classist system it disrupts. To be a clown is not to be a distraction from all that is wrong in the world, but the breaker of its fourth wall. Bringing our attention to the irony of power with a grin. The clown makes fun of all, especially themselves. They serve as a reminder of the performances we all put on to fit in. Daring to be looked down upon and considered “cringe”, the clown stares back at us. We are jealous of the brave freedom they have to play the fool.
